Jars of Clay Frontman Comes Out in Support of Homosexual ‘Marriage’.

Disappointing. May they lose their fan base.

  1. That’s quite a bombshell, at least for him to come out and say it.

From what I know about the Christian music industry, it isn’t that much different from the secular one. And this information comes from a few friends who have been in it.

    • I don’t doubt that – we’ve seen the Christian music plagued by cheating and divorce, and other scandals – but they tend to have to at least pay lip service to not being liberals.

And thus this truly is a bombshell, for him to publicly proclaim support for gay marriage. Jars of Clay will lose fans over this – and rightly so.

  2. I’ve gone back and read some of his Tweeted questions and while they seem to be well-intentioned, they are rife with false assumptions and false definitions of love. And then he reaches the wrong conclusions about homosexuality.

The Christian answer to homosexuality is rather simple. If you are not attracted to the opposite sex sufficiently to marry a member of it, then God has called you to live a life of celibacy.

There are a few theologians (whose names escape me) of the past who have admitted their struggles with a proclivity towards homosexuality and their struggle that resulted, however they also admit never acting upon that proclivity. And for them I have tremendous respect.

    • I have seen some of those folks, too – I knew a Christian who I believe was a closeted, celibate gay as well – and I too respect them very much; it must be a challenge. But then, so is heterosexual celibacy, as well – except it is lightened somewhat by the possibility that one might still meet someone compatible for marriage at some point; a Christian of homosexual orientation has the realization that he or she will never have a lifelong companion of the kind they are attracted to, and so unless they opt to join something like the former Exodus International organization, which claims they can turn people straight, they are in for a lifetime of solitude.
